About the course
The goal of the course is to provide UK-funded PhD students and early career researchers specialising in physical oceanography with knowledge and experience in:
- ocean climate processes, their representation in models and associated contribution to forecast errors
- use of real-time ocean observations
- synthesizing model predictions and observations
- ocean and climate forecasting activities at the Met Office
The course will take students with reasonable prior knowledge of ocean modelling and/or observations, and provide them with knowledge and expertise of ‘seamless’ climate forecasting, spanning timescales from days to decades.
We encourage experienced researchers (as well as PhDs/postdocs) to apply for the course; Met Office staff attending this course will have 5-10+ years post PhD experience.
